Our Purpose

Georgia Open Records Project exists to preserve, organize, and provide long-term public access to proceedings from Georgia Courts. Our mission is to archive publicly available court livestreams and maintain them as part of accessible Georgia Court archives for educational, historical, and public interest purposes.

Every day, Georgia Trials, hearings, and judicial proceedings are livestreamed to uphold the principle of open courts. These public broadcasts reflect a foundational truth of the American legal system: justice should be visible. However, once livestreams conclude, consistent public access can become fragmented or difficult to locate. Georgia Open Records Project works to ensure those publicly available proceedings remain organized, searchable, and preserved.

Preserving the Full Court Record

Georgia courtrooms operate in the name of the people. When proceedings are streamed publicly, they become part of the civic and historical record. Our focus is simple: preserve the Full Court record exactly as it was made available.

We do not add commentary. We do not insert narration. We do not selectively edit for context or entertainment. Recordings are presented as complete sessions whenever possible, labeled only with basic identifying information such as court name, date, and case number when available.

By maintaining reliable Georgia Court archives, we support:

  • Historical documentation of Georgia Trials
  • Educational access for students and civic groups
  • Research reference for journalists and legal observers
  • Public transparency within Georgia Courts

Access to the full proceeding ensures context remains intact. Viewers are able to see the entire record, rather than brief clips or summaries.

Transparency and Public Interest

Transparency builds trust. When Georgia Courts are visible to the public, confidence in the judicial process is strengthened. Georgia Open Records Project serves the public interest by ensuring that publicly available court proceedings remain accessible after the livestream ends.

Our project operates as a neutral archival resource. We are not a commentary platform. We are not an advocacy organization. Our purpose is preservation and accessibility under the principles of Georgia Open Records and open government traditions.

A Watchdog Through Preservation

The term watchdog often suggests aggressive reporting or investigative commentary. Our approach is different. Georgia Open Records Project functions as a watchdog through preservation rather than opinion.

When Full Court proceedings and complete Georgia Trials are accessible to the public, accountability is inherent. Transparency does not require narration; it requires availability.

By maintaining structured Georgia Court archives, we allow the public to examine proceedings in their entirety and draw informed conclusions based on the complete record.

Respect for Judicial Authority

All recordings are sourced exclusively from official public livestreams provided by Georgia Courts. We do not introduce recording equipment into courtrooms, nor do we interfere with proceedings in any way.

Georgia Open Records Project respects judicial discretion and court policies. If a court establishes specific guidelines or requests removal of content, we comply promptly and without dispute. Judicial authority remains paramount.

Building Long-Term Georgia Court Archives

In a digital environment where information can quickly disappear, systematic archiving matters. The long-term goal of Georgia Open Records Project is to contribute to reliable, organized Georgia Court archives that remain available for future generations.

Court proceedings are part of Georgia’s civic fabric. Preserving public broadcasts of Georgia Trials supports informed citizenship, legal education, and open government.

Georgia Open Records Project is committed to maintaining access to publicly available proceedings from Georgia Courts in a professional, respectful, and transparent manner.
